Aquinnah Vacation Rentals - Martha's Vineyard

Formerly called Gay Head, Aquinnah was renamed in 1995 back to its original Wampanoag Native American name, which means "land under the hill." Many members of the Wampanoag tribe still live in Aquinnah. The breathtaking Aquinnah Cliffs, a National Landmark, have intrigued visitors and geologists for centuries. Erosion continues to reveal ancient fossils hidden within the steep and brilliantly colored cliffs. The Gay Head Light stands sentry atop the mile long cliffs.

Moshup Beach is a public beach with spectacular views of the Aquinnah Cliffs. Head of the Pond, Philbin and Lobsterville Beaches are restricted to residents and renters may obtain a beach permit from the town clerk by showing a copy of their lease agreement.
