"Lazy Summer Home"

Spacious upside-down house, easy walk (500 steps, or 1/4 mile) to ocean beach. Water views of Madaket harbor. Madaket Village occupies the western point of Nantucket, with open ocean and harbor all around - and spectacular sunsets.

Madaket is quieter than other areas, especially in the spring and fall. You can often hear the ocean pounding and roaring from the deck that wraps from the master bedroom around to the living room.

This casual beach house likes families, and is private, set back from road by a circular driveway. Its upstairs living room has a cathedral ceiling, piano, library, and views of the harbor from the kitchen and livingroom.

The ocean beach (surf's up!) and calm harbor beach - good for
kayaking or swimming for the littler ones - are both walks from the house. A favorite activity is a simple after-dinner stroll, to the ocean for sunset, then to walk looping back along the harbor side as darkness falls.

Owner enjoys helping people have a good time and sharing all the little tricks about how to get to and around the island.

A bike path runs right by the house, so you can cycle or rollerblade out in the morning to town or to beach with ease.
The shuttle to town stops right next door as well, which is sometimes preferable even if you bring your car over, to avoid having to find parking in town.

Reservation requires a $300 security deposit and half the rent. The other half is due 1 month before the term starts.

Weeks start on Fridays to avoid the Saturday jamups.
